The University of Central Florida’s Office of Research (UCF OOR) is the presenting sponsor of Spark STEM Fest, an exciting celebration of innovation, discovery, and hands‑on learning. This dynamic event brings together researchers, students, and the community to explore real‑world science in action through interactive exhibits and demonstrations.
Space Innovation with the Florida Space Institute
At Spark STEM Fest, the Florida Space Institute (FSI) highlights how space science and technology help us better understand Earth and prepare for future space exploration. Visitors can enjoy interactive activities and learn about climate monitoring, human spaceflight support systems, and other cutting‑edge space research.
Hands‑On Neuroscience Exploration
The UCF Neuroscience Alliance invites curious minds to discover the structure and function of the brain through engaging activities. From interactive displays to live demonstrations, this exhibit makes learning about the nervous system fun and accessible.
Robotics and Interactive Technology
The Robotics Club of Central Florida, in collaboration with UCF’s Institute for Simulation and Training, showcases advanced robotics in action—including demonstrations with Boston Dynamics Spot. Attendees also get up close with humanoid and robot dog demos that explain sensors, balance, mobility, and real‑world applications.
UCF GaIM and Digital Media Research
Explore digital media and interactive experiences presented by graduate students from Games and Interactive Media (GaIM). This exhibit offers insights into physical computing, game design, and emerging ways humans interact with digital environments.
Human Performance, AI, and Emerging Sciences
The UCF Human Performance Lab demonstrates how the body moves and adapts with hands‑on tests like grip strength and reaction time. Other featured research includes AI in action—live demonstrations that show how artificial intelligence is advancing scientific discovery—and explorations into DNA computing and sensor‑based engineering projects.
Science Across Disciplines
From insects under microscopes to drone technology and energy experiments, the UCF College of Sciences brings a variety of science disciplines to life. Visitors of all ages can dive into diverse scientific topics and connect with faculty and students who are passionate about discovery.
Meet Sully the Therapeutic Seal and Explore Medical Tech
Experience the therapeutic power of animal‑assisted research with Sully the therapeutic seal, and see the innovative instructional technologies used by the UCF College of Medicine to train the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Spark STEM Fest showcases how UCF’s researchers and students are pushing the boundaries of science and technology while inspiring the next generation of innovators. This event offers something for everyone—from young learners to lifelong science enthusiasts.
